Executions 'achieve nothing': Vic premier

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has added to calls for Bali Nine pair Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran to be granted an eleventh hour stay of execution.

It appears the pair, arrested in Bali in 2005 for organising a drug smuggling operation, have exhausted all avenues to escape death row and their executions are now imminent.

Mr Andrews again called on Indonesian authorities to review their cases.

"Killing these two young men will achieve nothing," Mr Andrews told reporters on Sunday.

"The evidence is very clear this barbaric murdering of two people will achieve nothing, it will prevent no crime and keep no one safe.

"We would ask, in the most respectful terms, that the Indonesian authorities reconsider this.

"That's what I think a humane and a modern society would do."
