Empty bus rolls onto Melbourne highway

An empty bus has rolled downhill onto a Melbourne highway and collided with a ute.

The bus, which had no one on board, rolled about 50 metres from a bus depot near the Eastland Shopping Centre at lunchtime on Tuesday.

"It is believed the bus has rolled from the Ringwood bus depot onto Maroondah Highway, striking the westbound ute," a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

The ute came to a stop in oncoming lanes, but the driver escaped with only minor injuries only.
