Elderly woman dead in Vic fire

An elderly woman has died in a Melbourne fire.

Fire crews were called to a Northcote unit about midnight on Thursday.

The blaze was extinguished quickly but the body of a woman in her 80s was found at the residence.

Police are investigating but are not treating the fire as suspicious.
