Elderly woman assaulted in Melbourne

A man has assaulted an elderly woman and stolen her car as she was putting her walker into the vehicle in Melbourne.

The man knocked the 88-year-old St Albans woman to the ground just before 5pm on Sunday, demanded her keys and sped off in her hatchback, almost running her over.

She is still in hospital with serious injuries.
