Drug tests for all serious Vic crashes

All Victorians involved in car accidents causing death or serious injury will be tested for drugs under changes to the Road Safety Act.

Currently, testing is only mandatory if a driver ends up in hospital, leaving about 100 drivers per year untested because they were not injured in a crash.

The amendments to the act will give police the power to test all drivers, injured or not.
