Driver saved from burning truck after crashing into Melbourne bridge
Police have been involved in a dramatic rescue after a truck seriously crashed, caught fire and crushed a nearby car in Melbourne.
Officers managed to pull the 30-year-old truck driver from the burning vehicle in Essendon about 12pm today.
The truck had crashed into a bridge on Mt Alexander Road before toppling on its side and catching alight.

The driver of the neighbouring car, a 56-year-old woman, witnessed the truck crash and was able to get out of her vehicle before it crushed her car.

Four police officers saw the truck driver become trapped and quickly smashed a window in order to pull him to safety from the burning wreckage.
The 30-year-old man was not seriously injured and is assisting police with inquiries.

Police will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
