Driver program for disadvantaged Vic youth

Every young person deserves a chance to get their driver's licence, the Victorian government believes.
Road safety minister Luke Donnellan announced on Sunday the L2P learner driver mentor program will be funded for another four years.
The program pairs disadvantaged youth, who don't have access to a car or a supervising driver, with volunteer mentors.

About 3,000 Victorian youth would miss out on supervised driving experience without the initiative, Mr Donnellan says.
He says the L2P program also boosts employment opportunities.
"Sometimes, it can be hard to get a job without a driver's licence," Mr Donnellan said.
