Drink-driving charges in fatal Vic crash

A man is accused of drink-driving and running a red light when he hit and killed a pedestrian in Melbourne.

Stephen Papagelou, 28, is charged with dangerous driving causing the death of 73-year-old Henry Ekselman at South Yarra on November 18 last year.

The accused driver is also charged with running a red light and being behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level of 0.075, court documents show.

The legal limit is 0.05.

An obituary for Mr Ekselman last year said he was hit and killed while crossing a road outside his home.

Papagelou was charged over the crash on Saturday and faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

He's due back in court for a committal mention on January 14.
