Police confirm beloved therapy horse for children was never stolen

Police have confirmed that a beloved therapy horse, which has helped over 100 children with disabilities in the past two years, has been found and was never stolen.

Rosie, a black and white gypsy cob mare, went missing from a property on Canny Road in Axedale, near Bendigo earlier this week.

The horse is valued at $40,000.

Police quickly launched a search for the horse, urging the public to be on the lookout in nearby towns like Heathcote, Strathfieldsaye, and Bendigo.

"Rosie means an awful lot to these kids and we want nothing more than to see her returned unharmed," Leading Senior Constable Dan O'Bree said.

However, hours after the public plea, police revealed the beloved horse was found safe.

"This is no longer a police incident," a police spokesperson said.

"Investigators have located the horse and further information has come to light revealing it had not been stolen."
