Deluge and trout injection boost Vic lake

A lake on the verge of drying up earlier this year will soon be brimming with trout.

About 7000 trout were released into Lake Toolondo on Wednesday as Water Minister Lisa Neville announced that, thanks to heavy spring rain, 10 gigalitres will soon be transferred to the lake from a nearby reservoir.

"This is about how we can best balance agricultural, industry, urban, recreational and environmental uses - maximising shared benefits wherever possible," she says in a statement.
