Delays after truck hits Melbourne bridge

An A-frame structure on the back of a truck couldn't fit beneath a central Melbourne rail bridge and left the vehicle stuck, with wheels spinning in the air.

There were added delays for peak-hour commuters on Thursday after the drama at the corner of Flinders and Spencer streets.

Drivers were urged to avoid the intersection, where police stopped all traffic so specialist crews could remove the truck.

Nearby streets were closed to traffic and some tram services were cut or delayed as the truck was removed.
