Darebin gets inspectors after infighting

Inspectors have been appointed to Melbourne's Darebin Council after a report found infighting between councillors caused problems appointing a new chief.
The councillors also didn't record the gifts and hospitality they got, and deferred or reversed recommended planning decisions, leading to costs and delays.
"The council, assisted by two special inspectors, will get their priorities straight and complete the task of ensuring good governance and better services for their community," Local Government Minister Natalie Hutchins said on Thursday.
