Damaging winds expected to hit Victoria

Potentially damaging winds of up to 100km/h are expected to hit Victoria in the first few days of spring, the Bureau of Meteorology says.

Winds will pick up during the weekend with Sunday expected to get the worst of the weather, including gusts of 100km/h in urban areas and up to 120km/h in alpine regions, senior forecaster Scott Williams said.

"It will be exceptionally windy and it will also impact the NSW alpine regions," Mr Williams said on Thursday.
