Dead roo causes serious Vic bike crash
A group of cyclists are recovering in hospital after they struck a dead kangaroo and one of them was run over by a ute in country Victoria.
Nine cyclists from the Shepparton Pussy Cats cycling club were riding on Mitchell Road, Kialla, just after 6.30am on Monday when they hit the road kill.
The falling riders, who were in line formation, created a domino effect on the rest of the group and a 45-year-old was thrown into the path of an oncoming ute.
He became trapped underneath the vehicle until he was freed by emergency services.
The rider was airlifted to The Alfred Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
Another rider was airlifted to Royal Melbourne Hospital with spinal injuries and two riders were taken to Goulburn Valley Base Hospital in a serious condition.
