A Melbourne man accused of speeding through the city and crashing into three banks and the Crown Casino is due to reappear in court.

Chen Jie Xu, 34, allegedly caused $50,000 worth of damage on June 13 when he drove into buildings on Swanston Street including the ANZ and Commonwealth banks and a salon.

Police allege he also struck the Westpac Bank on Collins Street with his Honda 4WD.

It is claimed the Burwood East man finished his rampage when he crashed into glass doors at Crown Casino before stopping at the base of an escalator.

Xu has been in custody since the alleged rampage and dropped his bid for bail earlier this month.

He was on bail at the time of the alleged incident and has been charged with criminal damage, endangering life, dangerous driving and a weapons offence.

He will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday for mention.
