An injured schoolboy is being rescued from Victoria's second-highest mountain.

The 16-year-old is stuck on Mount Feathertop, in the Alpine National Park, and has sprained his ankle and is unable to walk out of the difficult terrain, the SES said on Friday.

The boy is part of a school camping group.
