Crackdown on dodgy Vic education providers

Victorians may be being ripped off by some training providers that deliver qualifications that aren't worth the paper they're printed on.

The Department of Education and Training is investigating 12 education providers offering security, childcare and construction courses, after data showed high student withdrawal rates and courses with short durations, the government said on Friday.

"Every Victorian, no matter their circumstances, should be able to access quality training with confidence their qualification is worth the paper it is printed on," Training and Skills Minister Steve Herbert said.

The investigation is part of the government's blitz on dodgy training providers, which has so far investigated 43 cases and commenced the recovery of $30 million in funding since July 2015.
