Vic home stabbing attempted murder: police

A man has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after trying to stab to death a couple in their 60s in Melbourne's southeast.

The 33-year-old man is also facing other assault charges following the stabbing at the Parkdale home at 3.35am on Wednesday.

The older man was taken to The Alfred hospital in a serious condition, but that has been downgraded to stable. The woman is also stable.

The man charged over the attack was remanded in custody to appear in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday.
