Vic cop in court over 18-month crime spree

A Victorian police sergeant who allegedly changed locks on properties that did not belong to her during an 18-month crime spree, has briefly appeared in court.

The state's anti-corruption watchdog charged Geelong-based Rosa Catherine Rossi with 20 offences, including dishonestly obtaining property, and she faced Melbourne Magistrates Court on Monday.

The offences allegedly occurred over an 18-month period and include accusations she used a locksmith in April, 2016, to change the locks on a property, therefore deceptively depriving the true owner.

Rossi, who is charged by the Independent Broad-based Anti-corruption Commission, was not required to speak during the brief hearing and her matter was adjourned until March 18.

Her charges include dishonestly obtaining property by changing locks on three properties that did not belong to her.

She is also accused of knowingly signing false statutory declarations and illegally accessing the Victoria Police LEAP database.

Rossi's bail was extended until her next appearance and she did not comment outside court.
