Chainsaw, shovel fight blocks Vic highway

A man armed with a shovel and another with a chainsaw stopped traffic during a bizarre daytime brawl in the middle of a busy Geelong highway.

The two men, aged 35 and 36, stopped several lanes of traffic on the Surf Coast highway in Geelong as they fought on Tuesday, police say.

The fight ended up in the driveway of a fast-food outlet and the 36-year-old man jumped on the bonnet of a police car and smashed the windscreen with his fists before jumping on the roof.

The officers sprayed him with capsicum spray and he was arrested.

The other man was also arrested and both were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

They have been charged with affray and will appear in court on Wednesday morning.
