Carl Williams' stepdaughter faces court

The former stepdaughter of slain underworld figure Carl Williams has briefly faced a Melbourne court charged with attempted murder.

Danielle Stephens, the 22-year-old daughter of Williams' former wife Roberta Williams, and her de facto partner Sanar Ghanim, 25, are charged over the shooting of a man in Broadmeadows in November last year.

The pair, with co-accused Tugay Afacan, 23, fronted the Supreme Court of Victoria on Monday.

It's alleged Afacan drove to an industrial street in Broadmeadows where he shot Serkan Kala, 22, while Stephens and Ghanim were in the car.

All three were not required to speak during the five-minute hearing, but Stephens blew kisses and made a peace sign and smiled at Afacan as he appeared via video link.

They will be back in the same court on September 25 for a directions hearing.

Stephens, Ghanim and Afacan have been committed to stand trial on charges of attempted murder, intentionally causing serious injury, recklessly causing serious injury and causing serious injury.

The trial will begin on October 19 and is expected to take three weeks.

Stephens and Ghanim remain on bail while Afacan remains in custody.
