Woman leaps in Melb cannabis swoop

A woman has been arrested after jumping from a factory roof during a drug raid in Melbourne.

More than 500 cannabis plants were found when police raided the factory in Thomastown early on Wednesday.

Police had to prise off a metal cage that had been erected in front of the door, a Victoria Police statement said.

They uncovered the cannabis plantation growing inside, with plants in different stages of growth spread throughout the factory.

It is believed the woman, aged in her 20s, may have been hiding in the roof cavity of the building.

She was treated by paramedics for injuries from the leap. She was later arrested.

The cannabis haul is estimated to have a street value of more than $1 million.
