Camera-shy burglar worms into Vic home

An identity-conscious burglar who crawled and wriggled along the floor of a Melbourne house to avoid the gaze of a security camera has been spotted by a second camera.

Footage from the second camera shows the burglar worming into the lounge of the Forest Hill home to avoid being seen on a web camera atop a television.

After covering the web camera, the burglar lets his guard down.

"But the ungainly gymnastics were not enough to help the burglar avoid his face being caught on a second security camera in the room," police spokesman Thomas O'Byrne said on Friday.

The man - already well covered by a hood, cap and gloves - was also filmed shielding his body with a towel as he interfered with other cameras in the house.

Valuables and cash were stolen during the August 20 burglary, police say.

A second man was also seen loitering at the property.
