A shed full of 20 sick and dead calves has been set ablaze in a suspicious fire in regional Victoria.
The fire started in two animal enclosures in Girgarre on April 7, and firefighters found the animals' charred bodies after putting out the blaze, police said on Friday.
Investigations by police and the department of agriculture revealed the calves were either dead or in an extremely bad condition before the fire, prompting an animal welfare probe.
