Cache of weapons found on Vic property

A large cache of guns and other weapons has been seized from a rural Victorian property.

Police say they found 139 firearms and related ammunition, and also a number of swords, knives and daggers in a raid on a property at Myers Flat, near Bendigo in central Victoria, early on Saturday.

"Members seized 37 long arms along with 102 assorted firearms," a police statement said on Monday.

"Some of the weapons are believed to be vintage and of historical significance."

A man has been charged with dealing and possessing a trafficable number of firearms, possessing firearms with no serial numbers and also possessing prohibited weapons.

He was bailed to appear at Bendigo Magistrates Court on November 10.
