Bus crashes into Melbourne cafe

Passengers on a morning commute have been shaken up after the bus they were riding crashed into a cafe in Melbourne.

Emergency services were called to Victoria and Dryburgh streets in North Melbourne after a truck and a bus collided around 9.50am.  

The collision caused the bus to veer off the road and crash into the front of a cafe.

“All of a sudden there was a big bang, I thought it was a lightning strike but then later realised it was a bus that ploughed into the front of the shop,” one witness said.

“There was glass and bits of debris all over the place.”

Paramedics assessed five people, including the bus driver who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

All four passengers on board the bus and the truck driver were uninjured.

No one was in the shop at the time.

Traffic is currently blocked at the intersection and police are advising people to avoid the area.
