A man who was found bound in the boot of a parked car has been rescued and taken to hospital after he was seen trying to escape by a passer-by.
The witness saw the man trying to free himself from the car boot on Plenty Road in South Morang about 8am on Monday and flagged down a passing police car.

The victim was taken to hospital with minor injuries and the car has been seized as part of an armed crime squad investigation.
"Detectives will speak to the injured man to determine the circumstances surrounding what has occurred," a police spokeswoman said in a statement.
