Hospitality workers and patrons in Victoria's west has had a close call after tyre came flying off a four-wheel-drive and flew through the venue.

Staff at the Bendigo pub thought they were dreaming when the massive wheel rolled into the building during a shift about 10pm on Friday.

The tyre came loose along on High Street, before it bounced through a narrow opening at the pub door and soared into the air, taking out a pot plant and a biscuit jar.
