Bonnie Doon drowning: Young boy dies after falling from boat

A five-year-old boy has died after falling from a boat into Lake Eildon, in the Victorian tourist town of Bonnie Doon.
The child fell into the water about 1pm and was dragged under the boat.
He was pulled from the water by his father and given CPR on a nearby boat ramp but died at the scene.

“Ultimately, the family were doing the right thing,” Sergeant Matt Bennett from Victoria Police said.
“They were performing CPR when we arrived.
“We took over from them but they were doing everything that was expected of them.”
The child was wearing a lifejacket but suffered injuries while under the boat.
Police are investigating and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
