Bones found in Melbourne CBD not human

Bones dug up at a Melbourne CBD construction site are not human, police say.

Workers found the remains near the Melbourne Metro tunnel site on Little La Trobe Steet about 1.40pm on Thursday and the area was closed off while police and pathologists examined them.

But police say it was nothing sinister.

"The coroner has confirmed the bones located at a construction site near Little Latrobe Street in the CBD this afternoon are not human. Police are clearing the scene," a statement said.
