Vic body in cloth is a woman: police

A body found wrapped in cloth in Melbourne is a woman.

A jogger found the adult body, wrapped in what police believe could be bedding, in the car park of a Dallas tennis club at 1.30pm on Friday.

On Saturday, police said the body belonged to a woman, but she was yet to be formerly identified.

Investigators on Friday night doorknocked surrounding homes and searched for clues in a nearby park.

"The manner in which the body has been wrapped suggest that somebody else is involved, the body is near bushes but it does not appear to be any effort in concealing the location," Detective Senior Sergeant Stephen McIntyre told reporters in Dallas.

Homicide detectives are investigating the circumstances of the woman's death.
