Body found in parked car in Melbourne

A body has been found in a parked car in Melbourne's east.

Victoria Police say the man's body, which is yet to be formally identified, was found in a silver Holden Commodore in Ringwood on Wednesday afternoon.

"Police believe the vehicle ... may have been parked in the street for several weeks," a police spokeswoman said in a statement on Thursday.

A passerby called police after he spotted man in the car in Wildwood Grove about 1.50pm on Wednesday.

Police say the exact circumstances surrounding the death are yet to be determined and they are awaiting the results of a post-mortem examination due on Thursday.
