A frail and blind pedophile who molested little girls under his care at a Melbourne Sunday School has been sent back to jail.

Kenneth Sandilands, now in his early 70s, has already been jailed twice for molesting children between the 1970s and early 90s.

On Friday in the Melbourne Magistrates Court he was jailed for eight months for sexual offending during the same period against five girls aged eight and nine.

Sandilands, who also taught sex education, was previously sentenced to two years jail in 2000 and a further 26 months in 2014 for offending while he was employed at St Paul's Anglican Primary School at Frankston and Northside Christian College.

The frail Sandilands, who was not in custody during sentencing, stood freely in the courtroom with his head bowed as Magistrate Belinda Wallington noted his plea of guilty and his physical condition and blindness.

The five "small girls" he had molested were all under his care and trust at school or Sunday School, Ms Wallington said.

"You abused that trust and your offending in varying degrees has marked them for the rest of their lives."

In addition to the jail term, the magistrate imposed a 12-month suspended sentence.

Sandilands taught at Northside Christian College until 1992 when he took sick leave because of failing eyesight, but did not resign until 1997.

His behaviour and the response of the Pentecostal church that employed him were subject to scrutiny in 2014 as part of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
