Bizarre attack on Melb train

A man is in custody after biting a woman and attacking students in a bizarre rampage on a Melbourne train.

Police say a woman aged in her late 60s was assaulted by the man, aged in his 30s, on an inbound train at Hawthorn just before 4pm on Thursday.

Nine News reports the man who was possibly drug-affected assaulted six people, including a student who was thrown onto the tracks. However police are yet to confirm this.

Detectives were on scene and the incident had caused delays along the Lilydale-Belgrave line.
