'Badness' Binse's bid for less jail time

CHRISTOPHER "BADNESS" BINSE'S CAREER OF CRIME:

* Out of custody for just four years since he was 13 years old - he's now 47

* Convicted of armed robbery seven times

* The latest netted just over $235,000

* Made six escape from custody attempts, succeeding twice

* Had 96 convictions by the time he was 24

* Currently serving at least 14 years and two months in jail for armed robbery and shooting at police

* Binse was classified a "high security risk" prisoner when sentenced

WHAT BINSE ARGUED IN COURT TO TRY TO CUT HIS JAIL TIME:

* He could face "very onerous conditions" in jail including isolation and limited time in the exercise yard

* His psychological problems arising from lengthy periods behind bars weren't taken into account

* The sentencing judge wasn't aware of a PTSD diagnosis related to a 2006 prison assault

* His reputation had been "canned" and he was "damaged goods" after the attack on him

* His guilty pleas and remorse were "undervalued" and the sentencing judge "overweighted" the seriousness of the robbery

* The planning of the robbery was "basic" - he was already a suspect because his preparations were caught on CCTV and he identified himself when hiring the van used
