Babysitter to testify at Vic inquest

A Victorian babysitter cleared of killing a 10-month-old baby girl left in her care will give evidence at an inquest.

Chloe Murphy died of head injuries in December 2010, two days after she had been dropped off at the Kensington home of babysitter Ketapat Jenkins.

Ms Jenkins was found not guilty of child homicide by a jury in 2014, and will be called to give evidence at an inquest into Chloe's death that begins on February 29.

Anthony and Phurithee Murphy - will also appear before the inquest.

A panel of medical experts, the lead police investigator and the doctor who treated the baby girl at the Royal Children's Hospital are also expected to give evidence.

At trial, Ms Jenkins was accused of deliberately assaulting Chloe while her parents went out for dinner and a movie.

The jury was told Chloe was in good health when her parents left her with Ms Jenkins.

But when the Murphys returned, Chloe was reportedly lying limp and unresponsive in the babysitter's arms and struggling to breathe.

The 10-month-old was taken to the Royal Children's Hospital with a fractured skull and arm and underwent emergency surgery.

She died two days later on December 5, 2010.

The defence told Ms Jenkins' trial there was no evidence the babysitter had attacked the baby, and suggested Chloe's injuries were most likely sustained in a fall.
