Australian teenager missing in Canada 'may not have been able to pay hotel bill'

A Victorian teenager has been reported missing in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

Jake Kermond, 19, had been staying in Whistler since early March.

The Royal Canadian Mountain Police (RCMP) believe he was last seen on April 26 in the lobby of his hotel by front desk staff, wearing a green baggy ski jacket, a black and white baseball cap and dark pants, after he had been out for a ski, according to local publication Pique.

He was reported missing by hotel staff four days later on April 30 when it was discovered his belongings in his hotel room appeared to have been abandoned.

Whistler investigators have appealed for information from the public and said they did not suspect foul play.

They also suggested the teenager may have not been able to pay his hotel bill.

Photos on the Harrietville teenager’s Facebook profile suggest he was an experienced skier.

His parents have been contacted in Australia and said they had not heard from him.
