Antique instruments stolen in Melbourne

An orchestra is down a string section after a thief stole antique string instruments worth $166,000 from a car in Melbourne.

An unknown thief smashed a window on a car parked in Kew early in the morning on October 10, and stole five antique violins, violas and cellos.

Police have released images of the stolen instruments, which include a Leandro Bisiach Viola from 1960 which is valued at $90,000.
