Another bad poll for Vic govt

The Victorian government appears set for a heavy loss at the November 29 election with another poll putting it a long way behind the opposition.

A Newspoll published in Monday's Australian has Denis Napthine's coalition government trailing Daniel Andrews' Labor 46 per cent to 54 per cent, two-party preferred.

The poll has the coalition's primary vote at 39 per cent, while Labor's is at 41 per cent, with a large number of voters polled still undecided.

But Dr Napthine is the preferred premier, 47 per cent to 34 per cent, while Mr Andrews' has a 45 per cent dissatisfaction rating.

The poll shows the Greens vote at 13 per cent, down three points, while the Nationals four per cent is nearly three points down on the 2010 election result.

It follows a Fairfax Ipsos poll published last week which showed the coalition trailed Labor 44 per cent to 56 per cent, two-party preferred, which was a 6.6 per cent swing to Labor since the 2010 election.
