Anglican bishop urges leaders to talk

A Victorian Anglican bishop wants the governor-general to broker a meeting between Malcolm Turnbull and Bill Shorten to work out a humane solution to the offshore detention of asylum seekers.
Melbourne Anglican Bishop Philip Huggins believes Australia needs a nation-building demonstration of leadership from the two federal leaders that goes beyond the negativity and blaming of an election campaign.
"Together, confidentially, they might find a way forward," the bishop said in a statement on Wednesday.
