Ambulance Victoria defends lavish spend on work function
Ambulance Victoria (AV) is defending a $10,000 workshop for senior managers at a luxury hotel in Chadstone.
It comes as there is mounting criticism from the ambulance union, which says budget constraints mean they can't get work jackets for staff during winter.
Ambulance Victoria chief executive Jane Miller said the workshop, which was attended by 70 people on Tuesday, helped transform workplace values.

Miller said the leadership team couldn't deliver the workshop at the existing Sunshine facility due to it being at capacity.
"My understanding is that it was less than $10,000 to support us to come together," she said.
"I think it was a very, very successful day with our senior leadership... very, very positive feedback."

It comes as 3AW revealed AV's decision to spend $500,000 on consultants to help implement a cultural overhaul.
Premier Daniel Andrews today defended the cash splash.
"I don't see it as a cost. I see it as an investment," he said.
Danny Hill from the Victorian Ambulance Union, however, argued the money could be spent on essentials, like lightbulbs or jackets.
"We are told it's due to budget they can't get a warm winter jacket," Hill said.
"Yet when they see management hosting these events, it sends a really negative message."
