Alleged violent rapist arrested in Vic

A man wanted over an alleged serious sexual assault in Victoria's Gippsland region has been arrested.

Police on Monday released an image of the "dangerous" man who was wanted on five warrants for several offences including rape.

They warned members of the public not to approach him because of the "violent nature" of his crimes.

The 29-year-old man was arrested in Morwell at 4.30pm on Tuesday without incident.

He is being interviewed by police and charges are yet to be laid.
