Man in Vic court over stalking, child porn

A man charged with stalking and child pornography offences was allegedly seen loitering at a Melbourne school.

Steven Douglas Burke appeared briefly in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Thursday charged with 86 offences, including almost 70 counts of stalking dating back to 2010.

The stalking charges - which relate to several alleged victims - happened around country Victoria and in inner-Melbourne suburbs, according to court documents.

The 39-year-old is also accused of secretly filming 'private activity' in 2015 and 2016, and was allegedly spotted loitering at a Melbourne school in October last year.

He is charged with nine offences related to child pornography, including production and using a carriage service to access child abuse material.

Burke has been remanded in custody and is due back before the court on November 24.
