A young man accused of stabbing an off-duty Victoria Police officer between the eyes during a violent home invasion has been remanded in custody.

Jade Hunia, 19, is accused of breaking into the Wantirna South home of Senior Constable Daniel Yeoman and stabbing the officer before stealing a Hyundai iMax.
