* Born in 1979 in Wau, South Sudan

* One of 16 children herself, she became a mother to seven children.

* Met her husband, a soldier with the rebel army, in 1996

* Travelled to Eritrea with her two children in 2001

* Witnessed her husband's murder during a military raid of her village

* Raped until she was unconscious after seeing her husband's death

* Married slain husband's younger brother, bore him a daughter

* Left Sudan in 2003 with her three daughters, walked 18 days to neighbouring Uganda and registered as refugee with the United Nations

* Settled in Australia in 2006, first in Sydney, then Melbourne

* Began an affair with Joseph Manyang, her dead husband's cousin, in 2008

* Gave birth to four children between 2009 and 2013.
