Accused church rapist faces Vic court

A Melbourne man charged with raping a woman in a Melbourne church car park allegedly choked her as he forced himself on her.

Michael Gordon Dempsey, 25, appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Friday via video link, charged with raping a woman in a church car park near Seaford North Reserve in April.

Dempsey was charged with rape and assault on Wednesday, almost five months after the woman was attacked on April 1.
