ACCC action against LG dismissed

The Federal Court has dismissed a case against LG Electronics alleging it misled Australians about their rights over faulty TVs.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission argued the South Korean company made false or misleading representations to customers about their rights once the manufacturer's warranty had expired.

On Friday Federal Court Judge John Middleton dismissed the allegations which were based on the sale of seven televisions, saying he could not conclude LG's conduct breached Australian Consumer Law.
