Fire threat for Vic town of Tempy lessens

A bushfire warning has for two northwest Victorian towns has been downgraded, but residents are being urged to stay vigilant.

The Department of Primary Industries (DEPI) downgraded an emergency warning for the towns of Tempy and Gypsum, near Ouyen, to a watch and act on Thursday evening.

DEPI says the fire is not yet under control, and is heading in a southerly direction.

Residents are still advised to leave their homes and head to safer areas.
