Melbourne thief steals TV, hails taxi

A Fedora wearing thief hailed a taxi as his getaway car after burgling a Melbourne business, police say.

The man kicked out at a passing car and fell on the ground after loading the 55-inch television and a second box into the taxi, both allegedly stolen from the Prahran medical supply shop on Saturday morning.

Two cars were forced to swerve to avoid hitting the man who was sporting a fawn tartan Fedora.

A second man may also have been involved, police believe.
