Police have recovered video from a helmet camera after a NSW base jumper died in Victoria, with a Queensland man facing charges for failing to report the death.

The 23-year-old man's body was found near the 432m Omega tower, at Giffard about 200km east of Melbourne, on Saturday.

Police say a camera attached to the man's helmet was removed from the scene before emergency services arrived.

Victorian police spoke to a 32-year-old Gold Coast man in Queensland on Wednesday before recovering the video at a Sydney address on Thursday.

The Gold Coast man is expected to be charged on summons with offences including failing to report a death, police said.

The Omega tower is the tallest structure in Australia and is a known site for illegal base jumping, where people jump from fixed objects and use a parachute to break their fall.
